Index Monitor

by admin on January 18th, 2011

It’s always good to know what’s happening in the overall market when you’re trading. Is the market up, down, or flat? The answer to that question has pretty profound implications on what you trade and when you trade it. Enter the Index Monitor, which gives you a quick look at what the major indices are up to.

The Index Monitor is made up of four tabs:

-          Indices: Shows ETFs representing the major indices. Clicking on the symbol allows you to add the index ETF to a Watchlist. This tab includes some basic information:

  • Last price
  • Daily change
  • High price for the day
  • Low price for the day

-          Quote: Basic information like the daily change, volume, and current price.

-          Fundamentals: Clicking on the Fundamentals tab will show more advanced information like industry, 52-week highs and lows, market cap, and beta.

-          Chart: Take a look at how the price of the ETF has changed over different time periods.
