For someone brand new to equity options, finding an easy-to-read, clear-and-concise, relatively straight forward article on the basics of options trading is not simple. Fortunately, Steve Sears, who writes The Striking Price column for Barron’s, is doing a series of articles to accomplish just that. The first part of his series is on the basics of buying options. While I may not particularly agree with every strategy that he mentions (like buying out of the money calls), it is still a very well written piece and well worth reading for the novice investor.
