Passarelli will present three seminars: "Understanding Volatility in the Options Market," on June 19 at 10:30am and again on June 20 at 2:30 pm; and "Straddles and Strangles," on June 20 at 10:15 am.

In the "Understanding Volatility in the Options Market" sessions, Passarelli will discuss how a volatile stock typically increases the premiums paid or received for options-and how a less-volatile stock tends to reduce the premiums paid or received. "Novice option traders need to thoroughly understand these concepts because they could affect traders‘ bottom lines," Passarelli said.

The session on "Straddles and Strangles" will be geared toward the more advanced trader. He will discuss how options traders can trade volatile stocks using these two important techniques.

"Straddles and strangles are commonly used when the trader believes a stock's price will move but is uncertain as to what direction it will take," Passarelli said.

"These seminars will provide a good foundation for understanding various trading strategies," Passarelli said. "Many new options traders are interested in learning about how options are priced-while advanced traders are looking for techniques and ways to trade volatility."

Passarelli has more than 15 years of options experience gained as a trader at the Chicago Board Option Exchange (CBOE) and the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) and an options instructor at the CBOE's Options Institute.
