This week marks the height of the earnings season. Over 25% of the stocks in the S&P 500 Index (SPX) are scheduled to release earnings. Tonight Texas Instruments (TXN) and IBM (IBM) released their results and both companies topped analysts’ expectations. In post-market trading, however, IBM was lower, possibly due to a revenue number that was a touch light.
Tomorrow morning before the market opens, the following companies will report: US Bancorp (USB), Bank of New York (BK), Northern Trust (NTRS), State Street (STT), Caterpillar (CAT), Coach (COH), Coca-Cola (KO), DuPont (DD), United Technologies (UTX), Lockheed Martin (LMT), Merck (MRK), Schering-Plough (SGP), and UnitedHealth Group (UNH).
